Case Study: GSA Search Engine Ranker vs RANKwyz

Case Study: GSA Search Engine Ranker vs RANKwyz

June Update: I have been getting a lot of inquiries as to the progress of this case study. Unfortunately the industry this case study is related to has run into some problems with regards to the FSA. The company I partnered cannot accept any more leads until the issues are resolved. Therefore I have put this project on hold until I get the green light. In the meantime have focused resources elsewhere and I am looking to test these tools in a different, more stable niche. Apologies.

Just thought I’d drop a quick update. Pretty busy at the moment with projects which is great, but means I have less time to do fun stuff like write this blog.

That said, I am in the process of a putting together a new case study that will look at two sites in the same niche being ranked by different methods.

One is driven by pure GSA Search Engine Ranker links, in a similar manner to my last case study, although in theory I’ve learned a bit more since then and my site lists have grown somewhat.

The second will be using a tier one consisting of RANKwyz web 2.0 blogs which will be powered up by GSA SER links. I am still pretty new to Rankwyz and have been busy building out 3 blog networks in different general topics.

This case study will help me learn to use it further and hopefully see how effective building blog networks in this way is.

New Niche

These new sites are in a financial lead generation niche, which is again a pretty aggressive field so it will be interesting to see what the results are. They are highly lucrative niches though so worth the work.

Both sites are up and running and I am just finishing off some content. This time I am using more unique material for the filler pages which most of it I am outsourcing to iWriter. (Tip: Pay the extra couple of bucks and use elite writers only. The quality difference is huge and it saves the ball ache of trying to get things rewritten…)

Progress So Far

The GSA Search Engine Ranker site is indexed already and ranks 65th for its top big money keyword. I have targeted quite a few others as well. I have started to drip feed tier one links.

The Rankwyz site is a week behind content wise and has no links built yet – but the Rankwyz blog network is being indexed and maturing in the background, so it balances out for when I do link it all  up…once I work out how to do it!

Anyway, I’ll keep you updated.

    Hi Nick

thanks a lot for running this case study! Do you have any news about it?
It`s just that im not sure which tool i should use or if i should combine both.

So it would be really helpful if you could share your experience so far.

    Cheers, Thomas

      Hi Thomas,

I have had success with GSA SER alone, using the SERengines plugin and a few others.

I know people who get results with Rankwyz, but my networks are still being developed so it’s too early to share my findings.

My advice would be to just start experimenting as soon as possible as you learn more this way.

Rankwyz is an interesting piece of kit. If you do sign up, take some time to discover the better web 2.0 platforms to create. Some are a lot better than others. I have some interesting findings in an excel sheet if you are interested.

I tend to set it at 10 verified’s a day to begin then see how it goes and check the quality of links being generated. Then I crank it up.

Based on the excel file. Never seen gather.com or fotopages on rankwyz account store. Have you?

Never used the acc creator. Its a headache.

Do you use the acc creator?

Yes, account creator sucks massively at the moment. It has moments of working well and you can generate loads of accounts, but not for a while now.

Not seen them either. I think they are legacy platforms no longer supported.

Hey Nick, I have one question. What kind of platforms due you use for your Tier 1 links when building via GSA SER? I think it would be a good idea to scrape for sites using platforms of particular footprints using Scrapebox first. After scraping those sites, I can disable scraping in GSA and use my scraped lists with it. I’m thinking of following this guide: http://imwithmikey.com/find-unlimited-targets-for-gsa-ser-and-other-link-building-tools/ which is really great.

I think that this is a very important issue, because I tried building tier 1 links with super-strict filters (PR3+, <100 OBL) and GSA could find almost NOTHING to post to even after hours and hours of letting it run. I am yet to buy Scrapebox and use the above guide.

If you said what kind of platforms you use for your tier 1, it would be really helpful! Thanks! \

    (Hope this comment made sense).

With the settings PR3+ and <100 GSA SER will be slow going, especially without a manual captcha solving service.

Just blanket T1 for do follow and contextual targets.

I followed many guides for building up my lists. I use scrapebox and Gscraper.

You need to learn about footprints to become a good scraper!

True! I am learning a lot and there is definitiely a huge learning curve involved.

So you are saying that for a medium competition keyword money site, it’s enough if the links are contextual and tiered? They needn’t necessarily be high PR links?

Gsa SER forum did not treat rankwyz kindly but lhad better things to say about FCSNetworker as that software can do Tier1 as well as T2 & T3 sop I am puzzled by your selection of rankwyz.
